Do you make people pull value out of you, or do you push it to them?

Are you the person who’s always willing to help? Who is amenable to anything your spouse asks? Who will put aside plans when someone requests that you go out of your way? You’re someone that others can pull value from.

Or maybe you are the kind of person who surprises a spouse with a clean house at the end of the day. Or writes up an agenda to the meeting in advance so it goes more smoothly. Or takes care of a friend’s leaky porch before the water seeps into the foundation. You’re someone that pushes value to others proactively.

We can learn to be both people, but I suspect everyone is fundamentally one or the other.
