Here’s a management philosophy with which I don’t have the guts to experiment.
A famous proverb goes “The enemy of my enemy is my friend”. If that’s true, then perhaps a technique for strengthening the partnerships between your employees is to treat them all equally miserably until they have no choice but to band together in common conflict with their horrible boss.
Perhaps being a purposefully evil manager could bring out a unique kind of teamwork. Instead of all your employees trying to kiss up to you, they’d band together in spite of you.
If anyone tries it, let me know. I’m not willing to bet on it!
